Hi there

My physio is going to try me with acupuncture, to see if it will help with the pain in my back and hips. She's tried lots of exercises, without much success so far.

I wondered if anyone had tried acupuncture, and what they thought about it. I'm a bit worried about the needles, as I seem to have become sensitive to pain recently, and when I had some treatment on my face with needles, I couldn't bear it after a few minutes.

So I'd be interested in others' experience.

Hi Lyn
there is no need to worry
the needles are so fine you will not feel them go in
I had this done because I had a back injury a while ago it worked for me
hope you find it helpful
good luck with it
take care

Hi Lyn,

I would make sure the therapist is very well qualified, preferably in Chinese medicine..

The needles should jot hurt at all so if they do, stop immediately!

No acupuncturist should claim to cure or even alleviate RA but they can help with the pain and sometimes, swellings.

Thanks for your replies. My physio, who is attached to the rheumatology team, will be doing it.

Hi Lyn, don't have any personal experience but my dad has osteoperosis in his spine and has this regularly as part of his pain management. He says it does work for him to some extent.

Keep us posted on how it goes Lyn as I keep pondering acupuncture but have been too chicken to go beyond that stage...
